Jewelry Making: Chain Making Using Wires

This class will show you how to achieve an intricate chain design by using sterling silver wires. You will be creating a chain bracelet using basic metalsmithing techniques. This course includes making jump rings, soldering, twisting wires, balling up wires, adding different textures by hammering and making various shapes of links to include in your chain as well as making your own clasp to turn your creation into a wearable work of art.

There will be a short break during each workshop—bring your own lunch or snacks.

Instructor: Angela Mini Jo is a metalsmith, maker of objects and occasionally makes wearable pieces. She received a B.F.A in Jewelry and Metal Arts from California College of the Arts in 2012 and a M.F.A in Metalwork and Jewelry from Seoul National University in 2016 and has started her Doctor of Fine arts program in 2018 at SNU. Her interest in ancient craft and ancient techniques has led to Indiana University as a visiting scholar to expand her research.
