Introduction to Korean Language and Culture

This course introduces you to some basic, but important, aspects of Korean language and culture. This course will familiarize you with the Korean alphabet and basic conversational expressions by providing you with multiple opportunities to practice speaking Korean in class. Each class also touches on the traditional and modern Korean culture, including food, music, drama, holidays, etc., which will help you feel more confident in interacting with Koreans in the future.

Instructor: Jean Young Chun is a Ph.D student in Second Language Studies at IU. She is originally from Seoul, South Korea and currently teaches the elementary Korean courses at IU. Her primary research interests are Second Language Assessment and Pragmatics.
