Filling the Void: Beginning Casting for Jewelry Making

Casting, the process of melting metal into a mold, is one of the most ancient concepts in
metalworking, and opens up endless possibilities for making complex, repeatable forms. In this course, you will learn the basic process of lost-wax casting by designing and creating your own ring or pendant.  Through demonstrations and supervised making, we will cover techniques including wax carving, creating a mold with plaster investment, centrifugal casting, and sanding and finishing. Students will be provided with toolkits and all the necessary materials.
