This comprehensive 40-hour course prepares you to enter the pharmacy field in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies or community pharmacies as a technician under a registered pharmacist’s supervision. Course content focuses on learning medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. You’ll also learn dosage calculations, IV flow rates, drug compounding and dose conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, billing and reimbursement also are discussed. This course is approved by the Indiana State Pharmacy Board and can result in an Indiana State Pharmacy Tech License. It is available for individuals with VA education benefits.
